Well, Dune is kinda stale. It's certainly not for everyone, but I thought he did an amazing job of brining the books to life.
I disagree, I loved Dune. Messiah was a little hard to follow, but Dune was ace. It felt like part one sanded off all the interesting bits and gave us a really generic brutalist aesthetic scifi.

agree, Dune for me was one, Inception being another. I liked Moon(small budget but excellent), interstellar was ok. And thats about it.
I'd put Everything Everywhere All at Once on that list, depending how you define sci-fi. One of the best films of the decade, in my opinion.

The movie was absolute shit. I felt like I was watching a sterilized series of previews stitched together and called a “movie”.
I have never been so let down by a movie in memory.
Definitely the best Sci-Fi movie of the decade, unless they drop Dune part 3 that is somehow better than this masterpiece.

The LOTR movies are masterpieces in their own right, IMO. I can't say the same for Dune (part 1, at least).

IMO the visuals were just... bland. Everyone wears grey and lives in dark grey dwellings. The color balance is so bad that Atreides flag that is green on Caladan becomes cyan on Dune. This greyness also ruined the supposedly-awesome scene with the worm where it was just a dark blob on a grey background.
