I just noticed after having connectivity problems through my VPN that the certificate for new.ycombinator.com is a Cloudflare certificate. For some reason I didn't think that was the case a couple months ago. Are they/have they always being fronted by Cloudflare?

Re: Ask HN: Is HN Fronted by Cloudflare?
#8Hacker News gets fronted by Cloudflare when there was/is unusual bot activity, high load or a DDoS. This happens from time to time, but after the activity goes back to normal, they usually remove the Cloudflare fronting.
As chippy said this time, they may have been DDoSed.
