As a Microsoft shop: Any experience with Blazor and PWA? I find Blazor very awesome for developing an App using WebAssembly. When using it as a PWA and caching the .NET runtime locally etc, the combination of productivity and ease of deployment could be theoretically really awesome.

I tried on Safari and Chrome. Maybe I need to install a special browser to use that web page. I wonder if they make an app.

Android allows the site to prompt the user to add it to their home screen, which it can do at a time when it makes sense. e.g. the user orders something, then the "add to home screen" pop-up appears and the user can accept with one tap, which they're likely to want to do because they anticipate wanting to check their order status.

As an iOS user, I would certainly not want websites prompting me for things like that. But I probably also would not want a webshop as an app. That’s a good use for a plain website.

I tried two of the features at random (face detection and vibration). Face detection told me my device wasn't supported, and vibration just straight up didn't work. Then I tried to back out of the website and it wouldn't let me. I'm on Android Firefox.

Same experience for me on Android Firefox. Couldn't return to HN via the back button, and most of the features were either "not supported" or just didn't work (e.g. Vibration)

Seems that either the author is only working in Chrome (which is probably reasonable for a prototype or whatever) or Firefox is lacking many of these features.

the elephant in the room is the lack of support from Apple, by this alone, its apps store should be legally challenged, before that happens, it's hard to sell PWA, which is great on a tech standpoint.

It's rumored Apple may finally allow outside browser engines due to pressure from the EU (also behind the USB-C switch).

I see that it works fine for me also on mobile. Somehow they have managed to neuter the desktop experience. A perfect demonstration of PWA today.
