How do you know they wouldn't allow a similar Nintendo or Sony "game pass" on their console? Please refrain from coming to HN and posting low-effort speculation.

How do you know they wouldn't allow a similar Nintendo or Sony "game pass" on their console? Please refrain from coming to HN and posting low-effort speculation.
Because it would be an enormous sacrifice of profit. They could do this now if they wished.
Platform monopolies are the core business strategy of every basically every tech giant. Become the exclusive middle man for a large number of customers and extort the small businesses because they cannot use alternatives to reach the customers.
I find your assertion that this is low effort speculation to be insultingly misinformed.

Their idea of Game Pass is not downloading games, it's streaming them to add an extra layer of you not owning anything.
