This maybe a controversial comment, but I think Dr. Phil gets psychology exactly wrong. Anyone who exploits people’s mental health issues, relationship drama’s, or compounds stereotypes about these issues for the sake of a television show isn’t practicing any kind of ethical psychology, and if you can’t get something as basic as ethical psychological practice right - you’re exactly wrong.
You can raise awareness, educate or have a discussion about mental health issues etc without exploiting people’s personal struggles.

That's a thoughtful comment. I don't recommend anything else by him, and since I read the book long ago, and outlined it, perhaps I forgot some insensitive material which didn't make it into the outline.
I wouldn't go near, nor recommend anything else he wrote or said on TV.
