I've done a little with a lot across my career. I'm looking for a senior or staff level role where I can use my skills of digging into existing legacy systems and developing greenfield backend applications, as well as mentor more junior engineers and help them develop their skills. I have quite a bit of experience with Rails but I'll work with just about anything. My post recent projects have been:

- Building a typed double entry accounting system in Rails with Sorbet

- Building an affiliates system for an e-commerce platform

- Debugging Wi-Fi issues for an IoT product

I have a lot of experience as a data scientist, I was trained as a physicists. I consider myself a good generalist and sleuthing, rough around the edges. I am currently taking a career break and working on an indie isometric game engine. If you care about that sort of thing you can look at the latest prototype here: https://kwgames.itch.io/macrocosm. I am looking for new opportunities in the near future. I am generally agnostic as to the role as long as I can be intellectually challenged and valuable to the effort.

I've been a PhD student in Machine Learning for the past 5 years, but due to some personal circumstances, I am leaving the program and I am looking for alternative opportunities. Ideally I'd like to make the most of my ML experience, so would prefer an Applied Scientist/ML Research/Engineer/Research Engineer role/Scientific scientist, but am open to other software dev roles. I have a BSc and MSc in Computer Science, and 5 years part time work experience in research engineer software development, working on classification and object detection. I am experienced in scoping, data collection and modeling within the ML project development framework. I have experience in real and synthetic image dataset creation.

I'm currently looking for interesting CTO or senior engineering management opportunities. I co-founded several startups with a successful history of funding, and helped build high scalability services with up to 10 million monthly active users.
