This is a really important question! A lot of historical clothing has a survivorship bias component.

It was notables and nobles clothing, so 10%? plus military. Plus all the textile workers where tint was available, so I guess quite a lot.

False dichotomy much? That is not an argument against the parent's observation per se. One can imagine a culture that is organized, not hollow, and not only for the rich
