#102I could not leave Windows for photoshop and Excel. Now that the photoshop runs smoothly in VM and Calc is comparable, made a switch to ubuntu.

I use something like: "OS X is my host operating system. I develop on Linux."
Depending on how you use it, OS X can feel a lot like Linux. If you're spending most of your time in Terminal and Emacs, usually ssh'ed into a server, then your technical answer will diverge pretty far from your "real" or metaphysical answer.

I would just like to add that there is a valid reason why Linux or the *BSDs are superior to Windows or OS X - they are Free. As in Speech. And I'm sad this doesn't even warrant a mention.
My way of thinking is that being free does not really to me, a lambda user, make it superior but otherwise just add pros and cons. By using mostly Windows I trade the inconvenient and risks of non-free with other advantages. It is a informed choice. RMS may hate me though :)

It is clearly the best of both worlds.
Aren't the macbooks over-priced ? Personally I'd rather buy a laptop and a tablet (something like the transformer) rather than get something that costs twice as much or offers lower return on hardware for the same price. Disclaimer: I am from a parallel programming background, so I am biased towards performance rather than form factor or battery life.
No? I mean is a Panasonic Toughbook C1 "overpriced"? It'll always depend on what you value and what your qualitative and quantitative metrics are.

#108Happy Linux user since 1992. Sometimes I also use Windows in VM for customers.
