Also there was a small earthquake in the region 2 days ago that probably has some people jumpy.

#8Cascadia Subduction Zone[1] is why I never considered living in Seattle/Portland once I found out about it. Funny, cause I live in the SF Bay Area, where the earthquakes are frequent, but they can never reach the magnitude of what's possible by the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

I've been watching a bunch of Nick Zentner's lectures for the last few weeks and I live nowhere near the PNW, so my case I doubt it was algo based. I have no doubt that in general you are right and the topic is "trending" (for whatever that means these days).
