:) Well not exactly eating through savings, just feel bad about only spending without earning. GJ. Maybe i will also find work one day that sucks less than the corporate crap i've been through. These environments have really caused me some undesired biochemical reactions i think.

Yeah, I get the savings thing, but I'd think as long as you're not financially mooching off your parents, I wouldn't worry about it.

I remember a dev on here posting about taking a year hiatus to drive San Francisco city buses and getting a recharge of sorts out of the experience. I think if I had "fuck you" (or even "screw you") money, I'd probably look at being a phlebotomist or patient sitter type job in a hospital.

I've been saving for years but no "fuk u" money by any means, but no responsibilities either (luckily).

This hospital work that you suggest is probably to feel useful by helping others i suppose.

Yep. I’m done. I’ve been out of work for around a year, and frankly at this point I don’t even want to go back.

I hate software. I have no interest in learning the next popular language/framework/domain. Most of it bores me to death anyway or is far out of reach.

I started programming when I was a kid, and frankly, I knew I never wanted to do it professionally. Unfortunately, my immediate post high school plans fell through and I decided to do it solely because it was the only thing I could do to provide any sort of economic stability. The problem is there’s no where else to go. Any other career I’ve ever thought of doing requires years and thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of education, and the work available to an uneducated person who’s spent their career on something else is dead-end.

I agree with you.

Lived alone and in different countries myself, and not eager to isolate like that again cause it started to suck after some time. Also the racism i've experienced and the cultural differences don't help much, but idk right now.

I like the guy who commented how hilarious it is to get paid well to write company crapware. Feels good, probably the only positive aspect, and not even a given tbh, not everyone is paid well in this crapware field.
