There is a new phenomenon like this, at least in German speaking countries, not sure how wide spread it is otherwise.

But there is this is idea that people have been abused in their youth by some satanic cults and they made them completely forget.

So it needs a 'enlighted' (often esotheric) therapist to make these abuse reappear. So in the past years more and more ritual abuse gets 'uncovered' that has virtually zero truth and is completely fabricated by the therapists.

Some German funk YouTube channels also picked the topic up but totally missed to point out that something appears to be wrong about these stories

And then you have the French, Dutch and Belgian case of the pedocriminal network which was unearthed after the Dutroux affair, which, inspired themselves of these late 70s-early 80s satanic panics, started abusing children in a false satanic ritual settings, terrorizing them, and making thus sure the claim wouldn't be taken as seriously as they should have.

The Wikipedia article links to https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rituelle_Gewalt as the German "equivalent" to the Satanic Panic article, and mentions this more recent debate there in more detail.

It also in my eyes cites in a more balanced way how there is a difference between "satanic ritualistic abuse" and "child abuse using pseudo-religious cult structures" (where the primary purpose is the abuse, not some spiritual beliefs), which does exist.

You don’t need a conspiracy for these things, you just need power imbalance and lack of accountability- the basic ingredients to conservative society: Laws that protect the in group and constrain the out group.

Catholic Church - Everywhere BBC Celebrity Scandals Epstein Canadian “Native” Schools etc. etc.

These things aren’t suppressed by conspiracies they exist under the eyes of conservative societies where the image someone or an organization organization projects and maintaining it is more important than reality.

And now the GOP is fearmongering about transgender "groomers" and satanic sex-slave cabals within "the left."

Makes you wonder what they're trying to deflect attention from.

One is a fiction made up in holywood, the other is a reality created by a political party.

That's not what happened in the Presidio case. The questioners also didn't give the children STDs.

What's ridiculous about it, exactly? Crowley in particular wrote extensively about his desire to commit "the unforgivable sin." I'm not Christian myself but why anyone would want to associate with this kind of garbage is beyond me.

At the very least, everyone's reflexive knee-jerk impulse to dismiss the very idea as ridiculous makes it an ideal form of cover for actual abusers.
