Absolutely, but you gotta remember my man. Some of us made our account on GitHub 14 years ago and named them after our Quake 2 handle from 1997

Mine is 23000ish and I still couldn't get "Stavros" (a friend got it first).

I don’t get why people would make this mistake on a regular basis. Use backticks—you’re not really writing “plain text” so you can’t write codey goobledigook without something weird happening. Or if backticks are hard to type on your keyboard write `@ name`.

GitHub will notify you if your username appears in a commit message so its not always that obvious.
