Is it really a race thing or are you just hoisting a maladaptive framework on to a situation to further a tangential viewpoint?
There are white people in Flint too and I’m sure there are white people in Durango too. Having white people in an area isn’t some sort of talisman to ward off greed, incompetence, or social injustice.
I agree with your statement that it really sucks and it is not right or just or fair or acceptable but your last line is like lobbing a stink bomb in a waiting area and leaving.
That said, if you have proof that the area was contaminated because of the fact there are no rich white people in the area then you can make this comment and I will be wrong.
I think there are other frameworks that explain these situations like it’s an impoverished area, the company had misaligned incentives, people didn’t realize the lasting impact, and or just a general lack of competence and foresight.
I find these little race throwaway hand grenade comments truly only serve to keep people at each other’s throats and distracts them from the true nature of the issue, class warfare and psychological manipulation to serve as a distraction.
I’m not a rich white person nor paid by the rich white lobby.

The 'rich white people' shorthand typical serves as an obvious stand in for 'those who have the political autonomy and systemic support to fight against harmful government and corporate actions'.
The vast majority of readers can quickly make the connection between 'politically powerful' and 'rich white people' assuming they live in America. It's not on random HN commenters to be egalitarian humanities writers who deconstruct every concept

What metals were they poisoned by?
In Flint it was mostly because of lead poisoning, that was caused by the city pumping chemicals in the pipes that removed the protective layer. Another source was contaminated water from the flint river.
What was allowed to happen at Flint is an absolute disgrace and continual embarrassment for America. An entire community poisoned. The people of Flint are still affected[1], and are still waiting for accountability and justice.
