The chart is just another "wtf happened in 1971" moment. https://wtfhappenedin1971.com/ What happened in 1971? The Nixon Shock, which is when the dollar stopped being convertible to gold after it became evident that the US did not have the gold it claimed to have.

Turns put he is a crook

They all are.

Edit: Please point out even a single Politician that wasn’t a crook. I’ll wait.

> While many unmarried 40-year-olds are living with a romantic partner, most are not. In 2022, 22% of never-married adults ages 40 to 44 were cohabiting. It seems that the institution of marriage is the issue and not human relationship?

I’m not entirely sure - it would be interesting to break down the cohort of the 78% of never-marrieds who live alone. Presumedly, they are single or not in a serious relationship, which might indicate that there’s a deeper societal and cultural problem than just marriage.

Yes there is ... It's pretty obvious to the younger generations, we are living in an age with the largest wealth inequality in the history of humanity.

Tie in the fact that the average salary can't support the 'traditional' lifestyle, and the desire for 'traditional' dating expectations. And now you have men checking out for one of many reasons, for example: not making enough with the right type of career.

And personally I see an unsustainable desire in women my age to travel. So instead of saving for the outcomes they might want (marriage and kide), an expectation that the man will provide the necessary support.

I've never met a person of the gender I'm attracted to that would reciprocate the selflessness and empathy that I joyously offer potential partners. I would rather keep my self-respect than settle for someone who won't meet me on my level.

Keep yourself open to meet that person.

Life can become much brighter with such a person in your side.

Cheers!

Hey bud. Just an observation. You come off as a lot less joyful and selfless than you think you are.

The finances of marriage don't make sense until, what, $75k/yr or more? If you need any sort of public assistance, marriage is a severe eligibility fence.

Is it? If you are married then you no longer have to report your parents income when applying for financial assistance in college. Since most college students are dirt poor, this means you almost certainly qualify for a Pell Grant. I’ve often thought that friends or roommates (of any gender) should get “married” at the beginning of school to qualify for Pell grants and then amicably divorce at the end of college. Is it fraud? Absolutely. But a type of fraud that is not going to be looked at.

I agree with this sentiment. The growing trend of hyper individualism is counter to the mentality needed for a healthy romantic partnership
