I was just about to and then realised that I had turned it off a while ago. The fact that I had completely forgotten it shows that I don't need this data. However, it's also not something I'm hugely concerned about; as others have said the main danger is from some unscrupulous individual gaining access to your account. To be fair, I haven't seen a load of claims about how this is "insane" or "horrible" within the context of this article. It just provides a useful instruction as to how those that wish to opt-out, may do so. It's fine that you don't see how this matters but it does matter to some and having the choice and understanding how to exercise that choice is essential.

Apologies. I wasn't referring to this article in particular, but the hype in general over Google's changing privacy policies.

It sounds good in concept, but I'm concerned that somebody searching for child pornography or similar could be associated with myself. I have the same fear of running a TOR exit node.
