I have had a lot of problems with Chromecast (and apple play for that matter). It just never seems to work properly. Bluetooth is better, but every now and then I have to fiddle with it for a minute or two for it to work properly (and yes, also on iPhone). I have started just connecting using a 3.5mm plug.

Which this tablet lacks.

Is this really considered "first generation" Pixel tablet? Google is so good at killing off products that nobody remembers the previous attempts at tablets?

I also think it's weird to call this first generation when it's the second one (not counting the misstep of Pixel Slate with ChromeOS).

My first generation Pixel C from 2015 is still in daily use, but admittedly getting slow so I will be ordering this one. This refresh cycle of 8 years seems almost as designed for those who bought the original C. I'm already looking forward for the third installment in 2031.

Are charging docks not a way to avoid EU regulations around standardizing/unbundling charging cables?

Charging Dock is one option you can charge using USB-C also.

I guess it depends on the country, for me in France it redirected on the French version of the store and you can buy the tablet for 700€.

It's not only the US. It redirects correctly for Australia with information.

Something my 4 year old Asus zenpad does perfectly. It has a profile for everyone in the house...all with their own apps, email accounts and personalizations.

The weirdest part of this product, to me, is that Google went all-in on beige. You may pick from three shades of beige. Google corporate branding is usually so much more colorful, but I guess times change.

I still have a semi functioning nexus 7. I used it as an ebook reader for the longest time. Not sure what to do with it now.

I also have a Nexus 7, but it's now slow as molasses to the point of being unusable. Maybe I should try a factory reset...

Try replacing the battery. The Nexus 7 was way ahead of its time.

Apple isn't good at charging. There's a lot of aspect they excel, graphic design, ergonomics, material etc. Charging has never been their forte. I present as evidence: - the original humongous 31 pin ipod cable - the harpooned mouse - the wireless charging mat they never could deliver - the first Apple pencil (and its usb-c charging cable...) - their previous gen desktop keyboards charging over lightning Their only g…
