At this rate the entirity of pollution and exploitation created by the world's capitalist system will get fixed, just by vaguely linking it to something Environmentalists care about.

Nickel for Stainless steel? Don't care. Other non-corrosive alloys? Don't care. Jet engines? Don't care. Fossil fuel electricity turbines? Don't care. Coins, Catalysts? Don't care.

Rechargeable batteries? This must be stopped. I demand it is mined ethically and environmentally.

Fine by me. If we only get a better world based on spite, it's better than nothing.

You miss the point. I don't particularly care more about the sourcing of EV minerals than any of the others, but don't pretend that they are any better, either.
