Yeah, with all the vendor lock in it's not possible to repair even your own socks these days ...

Sock darning was a think until the mid-20th century.

It's a pretty interesting technique. You basically reweave the worn part of the dock with fresh thread/yarn.

I’ve found that left/right socks are more common for activities like running, where they’re knit to support specific parts of your feet.

Ridiculous. It depends on the style of shoe and the setting more than open or closed toes.

That’s mainly because many Americans have a coffee maker instead of brewing tea. But electric kettles are increasingly common. I have one, as well as one that I can put on the stove.

I was like you, at one point (2021 or 2022) I reckon wore socks and actual shoes maybe less than 30 days out of a year. If I go anywhere it'd be in a croc or sandals.

But then discovered the fun of electric skateboarding.

This necessitated wearing skate shoes and socks.. which I bought in bulk, no complaints there.
