I'm looking to return to work after a sabbatical. I tend to describe myself as a "data generalist"—I can build a modern data stack on my own (if I need to!), with a data warehouse, ETL, Analytics Eng, ML and DS, streaming, etc. Also comfortable with backend SWE, not comfortable setting up infra on my own. I have five years of experience, on AWS.

My preference would be to work on a data-intensive or ML-intensive customer-facing product at a smaller company. But I'd be open to internal data platform or business intelligence work, in the right environment. No companies > 1000 headcount. Ideally role will involve ML and DS. Top priority is to work in an effective org with effective people.

Hi, I’m Cameron. I’ve been programming for my own projects for ~13 years, and professionally for four. I’m comfortable and experienced in teaching myself whatever I need to solve the problem in front of me, and a polyglot who’s tinkered with Python, Lua and a little Haskell and Racket in addition to the languages I’ve used professionally.

I previously worked as a backend developer for two and a half years on Bedful, a SaaS booking management system for campsites, and then for about six months as a full-stack developer at Hipcamp (Airbnb for camping) after that company was acquired.

I'm looking for an IC position working broadly on the backend, somewhere with interesting problems to solve and a culture that values potential and growth. Prefer working remotely and have experience collaborating across timezones from California to Canberra, but am open to hybrid with an office in London as well for the right opportunity.

Also open to freelance and contract work.

I recently joined forces with some web dev/designer friends to start a team for hire. Collectively we have a ton of experience building and shipping websites of all kinds. We are looking for clients who need help building early stage SaaS products, or similar.
