I'm one that believes that the root cause for the happiness is hope. No matter what happens if you believe that God will catch you and is taking care of you then you will never fall into a deep sadness. Whether it is true or delusional, believing in God makes a difference in people's lives.

Had never heard of the experiment until now but, yes, that's exactly the case.
