Do we do things like this for other technology or for other software? Why the huge intense fear as soon as someone puts a label 'AI' on a piece of software?

While some people certainly respond with "huge intense fear", I suspect others might only want to provide a small counterpoint to "huge intense hype".

No idea if the creator of this site falls into the former or latter group... or neither.

So that's what the "Open" in OpenAI refers to: the user data and credit card info. Now that finally makes sense.

this is starting to smell like "fake concern"...technically-astute people who are nonetheless ignorant of this tech trying to "participate" by shrieking in terror over imagined dangers

Bit of a stretch to label an organisations shitty website security an AI incident just because it's a portal to the AI chatbot. I guess aviation disasters should now include passengers privacy incidents from hacked booking websites?

AI is going just great...

...and it also is certainly not going to be just an enormous grift to fuel the race to the bottom and replacing artists, musicians, engineers, doctors, lawyers, accountants etc and we will all be taking off in planes without any pilots soon since we have perfect AI pilots around the corner. /s
