Reminder: when a corporation says “useful” they mean “profitable.” I’m not on the crypto bandwagon, I just want folks to take anything a corp says with a grain of salt.

#13You can just not use them. You almost certainly won't be presented with a case in your everyday life in which someone refuses your cash and only accepts Bitcoin.
Meanwhile, every day it becomes harder and harder to avoid using Visa or Mastercard as stores go cash free.

In Feb 2021 you could still just about be forgiven for thinking that hardware like that optimized for mining was a worthwhile market to be pursuing.

#15Who is "society"? Users of cryptocurrencies obviously find them useful, or hope they will be in future. The alternative to cryptocurrency and blockchain contracts are global alliances that make trading in dollars easy in all important markets and enforce contracts across jurisdictions. Billions of people who are not part of these alliances are left out and the rest are reliant on US/Europe remaining leading superpowe…

#17That is a pretty big mistake, completely changes what Nvidia said. We should be able to rate news sources from posts
And we are at a point where unproductive cpu mining is reaching irrelevance so this is kind of a mute point
The future could even be where cryptocurrency mining means making your graphics available for the network to train someone's AI model
