I think the, ummm, interesting thing will be swatting in say 50 different locales simultaneously. Each one could have multiple customized messages for the 911 operators.

no one around me can imagine that people would not google stuff anymore and use a chatbot instead, so why should they be worried about their business that is driven by web traffic from google? all the while they stop googling on their own and only using chatGPT personally.

I think its a combination of not being able to imagine that this giant can fall like previous economic giants, in a rather short time, and things on the progress side (AI) moves TOO FAST for many to really grasp

In terms of product innovation, OpenAI is now like Google and Google is now like Xerox.

The analogy is even more apt when you think that most of the things Apple and Microsoft became big with in the 90's - like mouses and GUIs - were invented as Xerox but they failed to monetize, just like the basis for GTP came from Google and they failed to monetize (externally).

I don't think Google is as Xerox- or IBM-ified yet though, they might still bounce back with AI products.

Could be just zero, because they can consider that given the very very large popularity of OpenAI and the niche popularity of WolframAlpha, that OpenAI is doing free advertisement to WA.

Stephen Wolfram is pretty comfortable being in profitable niches. Even if there was a possible mutually beneficial arrangement it still behooves him to extract value out of it. Especially if upside is disproportionately beneficial to Bing and in time the language model will absorb some of the WolframAlpha capabilities so there is a risk factor involved as well. Plus, people with large egos tend to demand costly tributes to signal their greatness in one form or another.

Yes, it's surprising me how quickly they're moving ahead. It's almost as if this is a plan of staggered launches since some year back coming into fruition. I'm not sure how else they could get weekly major announcements like this.
