> Bard isn’t currently supported in your country. Stay tuned! Sigh. Google never learns. By the time they add support for using this in my country, there's no reason for me to use it anymore as competitors have already swept in. It's the same playbook with every US-only launch: 1. get everybody hyped up 2. make it accessible to only a minor subset of people but advertise it as a "launch" or "open beta" or whatever 3.…

It never cease to amaze me how a software that is just inputs and outputs, can not be "available" in some country

if you sell something, then sure goods might have laws. but just text ? lol

"Bard does not currently support Google Workspace accounts [...]" Guess I won't try it then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It is extremely funny to me that Google Workspace accounts work for ChatGPT but not for Bard.

Data. Google can't use workspace data to train products. Bard right now wants usage data to finetune it. OpenAI had 6 month headstart with it.

You can use workspace data with open ai because there is no agreement in place restricting the use of that data.

Might be localization, PR, scaling, not enough capacity for the new users. I hate it but I can imagine it.

"Bard isn’t currently supported in your country. Stay tuned!" Can't wait to ask "Bard" what's the rationale to "not support" a service like this based on my country.. These "global companies" are so global regarding their revenue and tax schemes, but when something is different than the "business as usual" they turn into hyper local shops. It's just an observation, I'm not really that mad and desperate to try their "…

Not sure where you are, but I always assume that means, "We're doing something that some might consider sketchy and don't want to dedicate resources to figuring out if it's legal outside the US".

"We're starting to start the beginning of letting people try so they can now apply to our waitlist so they can be emailed that it's their turn to try Bard, the AI experiment."

Can I be part of the delegation that will be discussing the formation of a committee to institute the process of allowing people to sign up to be waitlisted for the consideration for the opportunity to potentially begin to start seeing how to use Bard?

You have been added to the wait list that will be submitted to the review board that has yet to be set up to discuss whether or not they should consider the question of if such a delegation is warranted. However, there is no guarantee that said board will be assembled prior to Bard's cancellation.

You're under estimating the cost to run these models at scale.

This isn't "just text"

:)) why so salty? I am salty too, ngl but it is: their product, their choice.

There could be a hundred reasons why they released it like this. ChatGPT was also not available world wide when it launched.
