They did and if I remember correctly they concluded it was busted. I remember this episode in particular because I didn’t feel like their tests were completely sound and didn’t accurately model a civil engineered life-size bridge so at best the result should have been inconclusive.

I have nothing against the video, and I am all for making science exciting for the broader audience. I just am not sure why it is at the top of HN.
I watched the video a few years ago. Before watching the video, I though the trick to break the cup was to sing very loud and very close to the tuned to natural resonance frequency of the glass, so the movement of the glass and the air inside are so big that breaks the resistance of the glass suddenly. I wonder what percentage of the failures to recreate a pitch are due to people not being able to adjust for the difference when they're hearing it through their own skull.
I'm going to go with 0%, given that the fundamental pitch of a sound is unaffected by material interference. I suppose exceptionally high-pitched tones above several thousand hertz might be affected, but nothing within the range of a human voice.

The human throat cannot produce a completely pure tone. The bones and tissues of the skull do not resonate perfectly with all harmonics, resonating more strongly with the lower harmonics. This magnification of lower harmonics distorts the perceived tone of sound coming from inside the head.
