What I find interesting is how close the opposite sides are. Victimhood is the currency of today’s “conservatism”: Donald Trump says he is “angrier than he has ever been” and of course conservatives today claim to be victimized by the media, the academy, etc.

Back in the Trump years I would see Colin Kapernick kneel and think, “this guy thinks America is not great, just like the President.”

The term has limits of course. It mainly transports an idea which resonates with a lot of people. For that it is useful.

For now I believe it to be constructive to refocus on a very real concern that some want to dictate the boundaries of thought. Just out of fear in many cases, but that too isn't a good reason to limit expression.

The term isn't diplomatic or useful to find any consensus. But surely to satirize some authoritarian developments that move backwards instead of forward.

For serious discussion? Perhaps a more diplomatic approach would be better, but I wouldn't want false compromises in what I believe has partially transformed into a religion.
