This is really cool almost urge-bought it. But I wonder what do I use it for? Looks like you can program it yourself so that's great. Get more familiarity with FPGA. I'm thinking about it. Well... I've supported SVR and Pine64 why not this. Nothing else can use it to record videos of my stuff working at workbench (not a lot of onboard storage though). Ordered one, will see how it goes. It definitely blocks a signific…

Do you have a blog, where it’s possible to see what you learn?

uhh... this is supposedly my non doxxable account but I will post a video on it on YT once I have it. I've done other devices eg. Pinephones/SimulaOS/Remarkable 2, so whenever I get this I will post it.

looks like once bought they will ship from NY so I should have it in a week or so

Somewhat related, this and Tilt Five[1] have me excited for the AR gaming space. [1] https://www.tiltfive.com/

OMG that would make battle chess so awesome.

It'd be cool if something like this could be used to selectively overlay thermal/ir/uv, night vision, or provide a colorblind accessibility tool. I think I would have a use for it then.

It already can be and has been done. Look at Mann's Thermocam EyeTap, or half of his other papers. He revisits mediating human vision with extrasensory overlays often.

So what kind of projects do people generally build for these type of OS AR devices?

What I'm gonna try is text reading. Like send in snippets of text from whatever news/twitter... and read it while doing dishes/waiting for food to cook. (assumption from bluetooth connection from phone)

Without 6DOF tracking or depth mapping, this is just a HUD, not AR. Still neat though.

Yeah I'm curious about that, is an IMU enough to work well. The iPad/iPhone with the lidar it's rock solid when I tried it.

I don't know if you can offload processing onto your phone with this, lag is not good or just not possible. IMU wouldn't make sense (phone in your pocket) but yeah. Not sure how you'd do the VIO without the I.

Earlier quoted context omitted.

Like AirPods, the case has its own battery.

Ohh, that makes sense, thanks! If I owned AirPods or really any comparable product I probably would have understood right away.

I own airpods and I was just as confused.
