ChatGPT has not yet ascended in Nethack.

In fact, no AI bot has: http://arxiv.org/pdf/2203.11889v1

ChatGPT uses a generative language model. It is great at handling text and language processing, but poor at mathematics, discerning fact from fiction, and other specialized tasks like playing Nethack.

AI is just pattern matching. It is only as good as the data set input and categorization.

The best AIs will be ones that fit a niche (only focused on medical, programming, manufacturing, etc. hard stuff), while the broad stretching AIs will be used as voice assistants and for fun stuff like planning events and whatever.
