I am finishing my PhD in Spring '23. My research combines control theory with artificial intelligence. I apply my work to drones and smart buildings. Specifically, how to make reinforcement learning adapt to disturbances fast. I like research and prototyping, and applying engineering best practices. Also, good at public speaking, managing teams, and passionate about communicating to a lay audience. I am open to work opportunities in engineering/research roles in multiple industries. I do not require a work sponsorship.

Hi, I'm Thomas, a Masters Electronic Engineer, graduating June 2023. I have experience in electronics test (including IC design validation) and a little in Electrical control systems. I aspire to working on FPGA systems of any kind, but would also be keen to explore RF and DSP work, or embedded Linux.

I'm looking for a role as a Founding Engineer, Head of Engineering, CTO, or very early member of a funded startup (or one seeking funding). As an engineer I'm a full stack generalist with over 15 years of experience as an IC and manager. My strength is deeply understanding businesses, the product, the industry challenges, the customers, unit economics, sales cycle, and market opportunities. I use that understanding to build and execute great product-technical roadmaps that deliver both incremental value while opening up long-term opportunities.

I've landed a job using this posting last year, unfortunately it was a startup trying a last-minute pivot, it didn't launch to an immediate success, as they hoped, so they decided to close shop. It lasted only 3 months so I'm in the market again.

If you'd like to see some of my current work, I'm launching an OS project to make AWS diagrams purely from Terraform: https://github.com/fmalk/terraform-plantuml . No changes to files or configs are needed. Still in alpha stages but it currently maps buckets, users, VPCs, subnets and EC2 instances.

I'm a software engineer focused on leadership and process automation. For the past 12 years I have been leading teams, designing solutions & architectures. I mostly work on backend with APIs, message systems built on NodeJS & AWS but I keep in touch with React web & mobile. Love teaching juniors and coding best practices. I'm out of practice with C# but used to love .NET.

My immediate family is planning a move to England so I'm open to it as well.
