Good news! I'm going to be adding another furry character to the website thanks to this comment. Feel proud, you've had a positive impact on the wallet of a furry artist.

Alternatively, a good chunk of my twitter feed would call this the bottom emoji, without attempting to give it a pronunciation. I don't think any particular pronunciation has consensus, but various groups of people imbue it different meanings.
It's the "step on me mommy" emoji

What's the problem? It's just that the information is presented as a back and forth conversation between characters.

If you're triggered by bunny ears, how do you cope with seeing 𓂺 on a toilet stall?
> he or she
From the bit you claim not to understand 'Please do not use "he"' is very clear.

Can we please not turn this into a fury flame thread. I don't think HN should take a perfectly interesting technical article and make it about the author's online identity. Frankly a lot of this thread is really disappointing to read.

to me the solution seems fairly obvious, and as is tradition already exists in unix as groups. sudo is for people who need root access. if you need anything less then create a custom group and assign the relevant specific rights there.
And then use su or whatever to control access to the actual root account? You'll always need some amount of access to it, although I suppose you're correct that in a truly well-functioning system it would be needed much less since everybody would be in enough groups to get access to the stuff they actually need.

Not pretending anything, I don't actually see the problem. They're clearly fictional talking heads that exist purely as a narrative device; why should I care if one of them is a girl with cat ears and another one is a fox/wolf(?)?

> Sexual attraction to furry characters is a polarizing issue. In one survey with 4,300 furry respondents, 37% answered that sexual attraction is important in their furry activities, 38% were ambivalent, and 24% answered that it has little or nothing to do with their furry activities.
So I'm reading "no reason to assume it's a sexual thing without specific contextual evidence", which I'm not seeing here.

It doesn't except for a 10-second window today. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34460417
That does keep things interesting (as long as it's not super common) though i do wonder how it looked previously (did it just strip the emoji or is there like a ":pwease:" dropped in?
