I think the website is excellent, and it’s a joy every time I see Xe’s posts here or anywhere. If you don’t like the way it’s presented, but you do sincerely want more information on the topic it presents, there is a vast (world wide!) web full of information. Surely you’ll have better luck finding it if you look for it rather, than spending that time trashing something that isn’t your cup of tea.

Can we please not turn this into a fury flame thread. I don't think HN should take a perfectly interesting technical article and make it about the author's online identity. Frankly a lot of this thread is really disappointing to read.

Yeah, many are just too small to distinguish clearly. I actually thought it was "rolling eyes". That's kind of how it renders for me in Firefox anyway, but if I zoom in a lot I see it's not.
I don’t know if that’ll help you (or anyone), and I have other problems with meatspace facial expressions (partial face blindness, probably partly attributable to finding eye contact uncomfortable; although weirdly enough trying to “get” emojis has helped on both these fronts to some small extent). So … idk if this will help but I took all this time typing it so here we are.
It all comes across as very "bah humbug", "get off my lawn", "I hate fun". I'm not going to say I wish the whole internet looked like this site or that other site but I do enjoy something different than the same look everywhere and I like seeing people try new/different things.
