“However, ever since the chatbot has come into action, it has been negatively impacting students' learning.” This sentence is out of nowhere, did ChatGPT write this article? How could someone think something so new is suddenly negatively impacting students across the board.

Aka welp students prefer to learn from ChatGPT rather than our teachers who have poor knowledge transfer skills.

I've been using ChatGPT daily and it is an incredible tool. I feel that I learned so much more through that time than if I had to use Google and books.

They can monetize it if they want, but I just want it to not be as bad as DALL-E 2.

When using an AI, it's not unusual to have to tinker a bit to get exactly what you want from it. Today, DALL-E cost 15$ to use it 115 times, but 90% of the time you don't really get good images, or necessarily exactly what you want. it means that you're actually paying 15$ for 10 or something image that are actually what you wanted.

I don't want to pay 15$ for 200 message on chatGPT and having to spend time to think about what i'm going to write because i'm afraid of wasting my credit. I might as well spend time thinking about doing the thing myself.

If I pay them will they remove some of the stupid limitations?

As a commercial entity in the western world they have to appease the social justice warriors or face getting deplatformed and hit with a smear campaign. Don't hold your breath. The unrestricted models will come from China.

I always enjoy it when people start complaining about “social justice warriors” because it’s such a perfect signal that their comment is at best flamebait. Just move on and ignore the troll.

There is an article today in the New York Times about ChatGPT and education, indicating that teachers view ChatGPT as a threat. Treat it like a search engine. It's important to not always use it to replace basic reasoning skills, but ultimately it needs to be treated like a tool that is incorporated into the curriculum. Of course, educators won't know how to do this for a number of years. But maybe ChatGPT can explain to them how to do it.

A Netflix-style model would be a lot nicer, indeed.

I would possibly pay, for access to chatGPT with a model that is a lot more up to date than 2021. Also it should learn from the questions we ask.

My assumption is the model is up to date (or a version of it is), but they really don't want it writing unapproved takes about current events or politics.
