On Apple devices that wouldn’t be an issue because you you can load the Twitter Web interface into a real Safari and get the markup from there for processing. Twitter can try things like CAPTCHA but this will degrade the experience for all Twitter users and you can simply delegate this CAPTCHA to your user to solve anyway.
Apple wouldn't permit such an app in the store so it's a moot point.
Sigh. How do I even use the official client in a reasonable way? I want to start over where I left off, with unread tweets left chronologically to scroll. The official client all seem to show the most recent tweets so I have to scroll down backwards in time?

I was the creator of Twidroyd (First and biggest Android Twitter app w/ ~70% marketshare) and there was a larger story behind the first big anti-3rd party move. Basically we had some plans to bring users over to a new network after we got acquired by Idealab — and Twitter got wind of it. Think Mastodon 2010 style.

The official client is not designed to make Twitter reasonable to use, it is designed to show you ads.

My site makes heavy use of the emoji font made by Twitter. They used to provide a CDN for it “ https://twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/twemoji.min.js?12.0.0” . It seems to be down as well. I knew it would happen with the whole Elon Musk stuff but that still makes me very unhappy.
