I don't agree with your opinions, quite opposed in fact, and generally if you find that sort of thing attractive in IRL it usually means there is some amount of compensating for something else going on which could be any number of reasons, which we don't need to get into (as that would be unhelpful), its something that generally and helpfully is something to talk through with a qualified professional.
Everyone is entitled to their own evolving opinions as that is a fundamental requirement for intelligent critical thought, and necessary for growth. So long as it does not harm others.
Rather than go into a long diatribe on the dangers of surveillance. I'll just say, you are not wrong.
There is a concerted multi-industry effort to reduce agency, eliminate accountability, and increase corruption under the "We just won't tell them and stonewall" strategy.
What you don't realize is most content online is junk, its not even people. Its orchestrated bots and its a subversive propaganda echo chamber designed with one true purpose; an efficient many to one communication system to interfere with legitimate activities, and cause polarization through the use of psychological blindspots which everyone has.
You may find Cialdini's Influence an interesting read if you are wanting to know more about those blindspots. Once you know their structures, its much simpler to alert on them, when they are being used on you.
One clear sign of propaganda is the use of those blindspots, and that is often coupled with fallacial arguments, or flawed logic; Ethics philosophy courses cover those.
