Less wasted time (primarily reducing gaming time) Less/no alcohol. Find another job.

My best friend and I quit drinking in 2022, and it has been life-changing for both of us! E-mail me at hello@taylor.town if you're looking for tips or support :)

Very kind of you to offer. Its been a gradual process from me, my heavy drinking started 30+ years ago. Only puzzle left to solve is how to turn my brain off during mega work hectic/busy times. So far that has almost involved booze or effectively no sleep as my brain continues to work on work issues whilst I'm trying to get to sleep.

Absolutely nothing! January 1st is a day just like any other day. If you believe turning of the year will give you some magical outcome, you are gullible. If you have or had a resolution, you should've started working on that, the very same day you though about it, not waiting for Jan 1st to come.

Earlier quoted context omitted.

What concrete steps are you considering for overcoming your social anxiety?

Progressive exposure to social situations that make me uncomfortable. I think this is known as exposure therapy? The idea is to just put myself in more situations that are just slightly outside my comfort zone. So starting a conversation with the cashier at the store or barber or something like that and then progressively pushing my comfort with something a more challenging.

Exposure therapy sounds right and something I’ve discussed with my own therapist to get over my own SA. Best of luck to you!

Earn more money. I've been a software engineer for 8 years but I earn less than some new grads. I've never gone in for flashy toys or expensive trips, but now I realise that money buys me time. Time with my friends, time with my family, time to do what I want.

How do you plan on earning more money? New job? Freelancing? Starting a business?

Job hunting is the number one. I see job adverts for around 1x to 3x my salary. Job hunting is a real uphill struggle as I'm severely affected by ADHD and have a spotty job history, but I think if I spin it well I can get a big bump.
