SEEKING WORK | REMOTE WORLDWIDE | Based in the UK & France

I design & build anti-fragile, reliable sysadmin / SRE/ DevOps stuff; anything from Python monitoring scripts to cloud-based infrastructure design and implementations.

I usually work with customers who have urgent operational needs that require an immediate short-term engagement.

My expertise is based on 30 years of hands-on technical experience in all areas of IT, but particularly in architecting, building and managing data-driven enterprise platforms.

Recent examples of my work:

  - Organisational-level DevOps tooling and security implementations
  - Global Azure infrastructure deployment, management and security (Terraform, DevOps, KMS, AppGw)
  - Python-based SRE scripting for monitoring custom federated clusters using Consul, Vault, Nomad
  - Productionalising Kafka and Confluent clusters (SSL, SASL, ACLs, Debezium)
  - Tracking down performance bottlenecks in Elasticsearch and Solr
  - Stabilisation of complex Java-based containerised applications
  - Validation of greenfield project designs
  - Single-pane-of-glass dashboard design in Datadog, Splunk and Azure
  - Deploying a global, multi-cloud, Kubernetes-based PaaS (AWS and Azure)
On parle français!

SEEKING WORK - Contract, Remote, based in NYC area, backend engineer I am a backend expert, having built and maintained highly available systems for several companies over the last 5 years, in addition to over 20 total years of software development experience.

The ideal engagement at this point would be with a firm that expects to need team-level help and wants to try me out as the lead for that on a smaller initial project.

You will like working with me because I:

* hold your goals as my priorities * communicate verbosely yet synthesize well * my rates are reasonable in exchange for the value I deliver * I guarantee I will get the job done

Concrete examples:

* built realtime stats and the enterprise-wide developer portal for one of the top 3 major US sports leagues (golang/pyspark/docker/azure)

* portfolio management process replatforming for a midsize hedge fund (bespoke->dockerized python aws lambda architecture)

* built a ~50 node, Dockerized, Terraform-deployed distributed system to provide realtime, transformed trade data from crypto exchanges to a Kafka pipeline and data lake (fodder for an analytics platform). Met 5000msec SLA across arbitrarily many exchanges and ticker symbols. Blue-green deployment for complete CICD safety. Cloudwatch metrics proved SLA was met and provided general system oversight.

* built a framework to collapse dozens of singleton ETL programs into one config-driven, simple C# application performing the same functionality at ~80% reduction in maintenance cost year over year.

* built and managed a team of 8 engineers operating against multiple streams of work to meet business needs, with ~12 active projects at a time.

SEEKING EXPERIENCE / WORK

Javascript, Typescript, React , Vue

Europe

Remote: Yes

Email: erwin.h.pierce@hotmail.com

I have 10 - 20 hours per week and I'm looking to build experience in tech by working on a project. Direct remuneration is not a priority (unpaid is a possibility). I would be happy to work on open source, or on commercial software. I'd love to chat to companies/other developers and would be happy to prove my skills/potential. I'm familiar with source control, testing and other general software development tools/methods so I'd hope to be up and running quickly.

SEEKING FREELANCERS | Global, REMOTE

Tribe.AI is a network of 100+ top engineers, data scientists, and beyond who come together to do interesting projects (usually growth stage startups, a few publicly traded co's and some smaller startups as well). The community is also just a great place to connect, we often have virtual and now even some in person events in SF and NYC to learn from experts in the field or for Tribe members to present their projects. A few folks in the community have also used it as a launching pad for their own startups!

If you're a top-tier engineer, data scientist, or in the AI field more broadly, please apply to join the network (takes under 5 mins) https://www.tribe.ai/join

SEEKING WORK Contract, C2C Location: East Coast, USA Remote: Yes

Willing to relocate: No, but can fly within the US for brief periods

Technologies: AWS/Baremetal/Infrastructure as Code/DevOps/CI-CD

Résumé/CV: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kikap/

Email: kika@kikap.com

DevOps Architect, Senior Technical Operations Engineer, Manager/Mentor/Leader. Expert in scaling, building production and development infrastructure from scratch, datacenter migrations, CI/CD process and pipelines, migration to (and from!) cloud. I'm a software architect and developer grown into the Ops role, I know how the software works at scale.

I joined two companies midway at the crossroads, rebuilt their infrastructure from the ground, enabled scale (and in one case - massive growth), scaled the team and went IPO with them.

I have a lot of experience making apps "cloud native" and diagnosing problems with resource utilization, starvation, efficiency.

Cloud bill optimization throughout: from billing manipulations to resource optimization.

I'm also very good at hiring engineers and I can help you interview and select right people for the job. I've worked for and built excellent teams in companies of all sizes, from hundreds of thousand people to series-A startups. I also worked a lot in outsourcing and can help select and manage an outsourced team.

I work fully or partially remote, built and run fully remote teams since 1994 and have a lot of experience to share.

(edited for clarity and removed "only part time" line. if you need full time contractor, I can do it currently)
