My goal is to chill the fuck out. I'm going to pare down the number of goals I've set for myself, and divest myself of any physical detritus associated with the ones I've abandoned so that I have less clutter to deal with. I'm going to make simpler, more standardized meals with fewer ingredients so that I spend less time cooking and cleaning the kitchen. Any time savings I realize from these efforts will be redirecte…

That's a very good thing to aim for :D Good luck in the new year :3

In 2023, I promise myself to play a hard ball with anyone requiring my presence on periodical meetings. I love to meet people, but not agenda-less people.

This is a good one. In some company cultures, unfortunately, recurring meetings are group therapies in disguise.

Get my shit in order. I feel like a lot of the systems I had in place to keep me sane and getting shit done have sort of fallen into disrepair the last couple of years. I feel tired and disorganized and spend too much time on my phone. Maybe it's a knock-on effect of the covid situation with lockdowns and isolation or I dunno. My health and fitness isn't as great as it was, I'm procrastinating too much and find mysel…

i recommend exercise. I'm over 50, and often after work I'll feel totally drained. after some kind of physical activity - and food - I have energy well into the evening. 20 years ago, I didnt have to do this, but at my current age, this fixes it.

The exercise component is clear but could you elaborate on what you meant specifically about "food"? Do you mean a certain type of diet or only eating at certain times of the day or after working out?

I've felt the need for the same.

Something paradoxical about wishing to create more information and simultaneously wishing to consume less of it.

Nothing paradoxical. Creation and consumption are two opposite things. Creation requires active brainpower. Passively consuming what others have already created just devoids one's brain of the creative powers.

Also, on the topic of note taking, creation does't necessarily mean for others.

This year, my resolution was dedicate myself to study distributed systems.

After spending 6 months with every day 4 hours after work. I can seriously, its been a ride and I feel like I realized am not even close to mastering (e.g, studied atleast 100 papers) it.

I woke up with a lack of exhaustion and disappointment.

-------------------------------------------

Some of my achievements include:

- Reading ~20 technical books.

- Going through ~20 technical courses.

-------------------------------------------

Observations at age of 31 studying tech material:

- My memory is good, but isnt as stellar as it used to be when I was 21 :(

- Accepting that, dedicating some take good notes.

- Being pragmatic and doing introspection at your current skills.

- Re-reading notes immediately after the course or chapter ends, and materials has helped me retain my understanding.

For the great narration with stunning visuals and great story, you might like to play Bioshock series. Right now I think they sell entire collection (Bioshock 1,2 and infinite) on sale on Steam.

Hah! Love your nick! I haven't played games in years, but, I really enjoyed half life and the bioshock series (and portal, absolute classic). Any others to recommend in that vein?

I would like to add couple more titles to recommend: Firewatch, Fallout series and entire Metro series (2033, Last Light and Exodus). Fallout and Metro games are very similar to half life just not that hard to play.
