Lol it feels a little cliched and HNish to immediately disagree, but: if I've learned anything it's that no online community is holy. Many have come and gone in my life. They are beautiful and offer a lot - but always in the context of sitting and staring at a screen. I think they ultimately aren't as valuable as they seem, at least compared with the real world.

I'm not literally alone on Christmas, but as I've gotten older and moved away, the family I used to spend the holidays with is either across the country or passed on. If you're not to that stage yet, please do your future self a favor and spend a little longer talking to your family. Take an extra photo, or ask them about some family history (and maybe record it). I really wish I had done that.
