I don't see how it improves security. Maybe the idea is not well enough expressed.

If I type my credentials incorrectly but really focus on each key press... the service will not accept the login... because the credentials are wrong.

The same as any biometric --- use it to validate the user.

If the input falls outside of an acceptable pattern, ask for additional confirmation.
