Have you done the math? What are they asking, and what size yacht could you buy for the same amount? And how much is the upkeep for both?
Like anything, it depends. You can get a 46' Morgan sailboat for $50,000 or a 44' Jeanneau for $475,000. But I would say an average 45' sailboat is about $50K - $100K. I'd go with a sailboat - the wind is free, but a motorboat can be very expensive. I appreciate the reply. When I hear yacht though, I'm thinking of something fancy in the millions of dollars. And while there are yachts like the Maltese Falcon (which I've seen in person), generally yachts do not have sails.
