Alternatively, bounce for something “better” while keeping in mind the grass is not always greener and the remorse you may have if your next role evaporates during a global recession.

I don’t know. All logic points to just staying to weather the storm and there is really no harm in staying. But my mind is questioning my choice everyday.
Which storm? Are you in EU? Depending on your role, it's hard to replace talent so if you are good at what you do, then you will be fine. You should apply to a new job every 3 months even if you have no intention of taking it. If they give you an offer you will see how it enables you to realize your potential. Everytime I turn down a role, I feel better in my role.
The EU is not doing worse than the US. Unemployment is still down, at a 10years low in many countries.
