Wikipedia only shows the 1939 Kiddicraft design. The 1947 design and LEGO resemble each other much more: https://youtu.be/iFELcl75CiY?t=239
The entire video is about how LEGO's only own innovation seems to be the tube pattern at the bottom for more stability.

Considering the "content" that seems to be on there, everything seems to work just fine and as expected.
