I think it's because there's nothing interesting about it. Guy commits crime, unrelated to why they're notable enough to warrant an article. It just invited shallow conversation, jokes, etc. Contrary to reddiquette, it's perfectly acceptable to flag for quality control. This is a perfect fit there.
