I guess it is region dependent or language dependent or both. My win 11 showed me the temp in Celcius for me though.

it looks like weathernerd uses the darksky api, so it will have to find a new source for weather data or it’s also gone soon.
Of course it still affects other platforms like Android or web apps.

I've noticed the Weather app to be pretty unreliable to be fair. The amount of times I've looked out the window recently when my phone says it's raining but it's completely dry or vice-versa or it says it's definitely going to rain and it doesn't. Perhaps no weather app is good enough to deal with Scottish (specifically Glaswegian-ish) weather :)
Apple Weather's forecast is unusable in the whole of Europe because of the data providers they use. Pretty disappointing to have such a US-centric view on an app that's so integral to a smartphone. They either should work with European data providers or make the app unavailable outside of those markets similar to how they do it with the "news" app.

Got any Android recommendations? I've been using meteogram because I can configure it to be pretty close to what I want. My ideal weather app would be able to tell me the chance of rain on a specific route at a specific time. Now that I'm no longer bike commuting, that's not so important. I still like to know chance of rain, per hour, for my location.
My $500 backpacking satellite communicator, manufactured by a 17B company, uses the Dark Sky api to get weather forecasts. They've got a hilarious FAQ saying basically "Apple won't talk to us either, but we hope they don't shut it down soon". Sadly exactly what I've come to expect from any software written by Garmin. It's all incredibly half-assed compared to their hardware and actual satellite/gps algorithms.
Garmin really doesn't seem to understand that in this day and age they are supposed to be a software company as much as they are a hardware company.

Probably not, because in the US we're in an era of extreme friendliness toward companies from anti-trust regulators. It's usually worked for me but sometimes it's wrong. Is there a better option you know about?? I love the concept of seeing if I have time to walk somewhere before it rains.

Be honest: would you start an Android weather app that's totally dependent on Apple's goodwill?
Would I be better off dependent on Google? A company that has the attention span of a crack addle flea?
Would I be better off depending on a small private company?
I had home automation based on Dark Sky API. Sad to see it go. (mental note: make sure there are always alternate solutions and manual over-rides for external resources.)
Care to share what kind of automation you had?
delay watering if rain is coming
warn of weather change so do not get caught in open waters
