Very cool! From the related blog post[0]:

* All the animation is done using color palette cycling (which is very impressive!)

* The scenes were originally made by Mark J Ferrari and ported by the author as a demo for color cycling in HTML5

This is an amazing engineering and artistic achievement. I have the Live Wallpaper for Android and it's the most delightful $2 I've ever spent, even though it crashes every few days. Right now it's snowing. Yesterday night I spotted a shooting star.

I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the official Living Worlds mobile app from the man himself.

Dirt cheap and It has some wonderful advancements such as changes specific to time of day!
