True, but I don’t think GOOG pushes interoperability for the sake of consumers. Maybe it’s just easier to collect data that way, and Apple wants that data for itself.

#36Tried an iPhone for a month when my Samsung S21 went in for repair. The perceived sheer lack of features and big UX gaps and missing features instantly made me profoundly dislike iPhone. Just my opinion.
I started with a first-generation iPhone to replace a series of Palm Treos, and have had various iPhones since then. I've tried a few Android devices, and felt like the interface was more confusing. I'm sure I could learn it with putting in some time, but maybe it's largely a matter of what one is used to?

I'm actually fine with this, it easily lets me avoid irritating snobs that I was never going to be friends with anyway. :-)
Although I admit that I've excluded people from group chats because they don't use Signal messenger, although not because of any snobbiness, but because of the lack of feature support, and because I HATE the way iPhones do " reacted to " type crap.
Almost like we'd all be better off with a nice open standard (and not the crappy RCS either)...

I don't see the problem here. 20 years ago you could have said the same thing about AOL Instant Messenger not being compatible with Yahoo Messenger.

UX gaps? Are you talking about android? The UX is highly inconsistent in vanilla android let alone across apps…
