Can you change your name to something common? I guess you will have some extra legal issues with that, but is it possible to do? If you can, you might be able to hide in the crowd better. I really think a company would be a good move though, even if it is just the most basic LLC you can make, it still puts your work behind a name that won't be easy connect back to you.
