Don't listen to people who succeed at what you're trying to do because they're outliers? So listen to failures and wannabes instead? Or ignore advice period?

#7Hugh Howey's Wool is one of the best novels I've read for a long time. His advice here, primarily to work really hard and to concentrate on a good plot with a catchy start, sounds eminently sensible to me.
