SEEKING WORK | Twin Falls, ID, US or remote

Full-stack web developer. I have a degree in computer science and have been working professionally since 2007, and building web sites just as a hobby since 1995. I love the web.

Back end experience includes primarily PHP development with MySQL/MariaDB or SQLite databases, primarily Nginx as the server, and Linux (primarily Ubuntu) or BSD (primarily OpenBSD, also FreeBSD) as the OS. I don't consider myself a seasoned sysadmin but I can get a server up and running from bare metal. PHP frameworks include Drupal, CodeIgniter, WordPress, and vanilla.

Front end experience includes theme/template development with vanilla HTML5/CSS3, sometimes with Bootstrap, and vanilla JS or jQuery. I've done some pretty absurd things with the Leaflet mapping library. I think I'm stronger as a back-end developer, though.

SEEKING WORK | Philadelphia, PA or Remote

I specialize in backend web programming using Python, Django, and PostgreSQL. On top of that, I can do a little bit of everything web-related, particularly:

- frontend (JS, jQuery, basic React)

- AWS (EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS)

- Docker

- databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, Redis, Elasticsearch)

- microservice architecture (if necessary!)

- Linux administration

My experience at startups has helped me learn how to build systems, and how to keep them running, simply and with minimal resources.

If you want to see some of my work, check out my chess training site at https://www.checkmatechamp.net/ . That site runs on the Google Cloud Platform and uses Python on the backend. The frontend is a mix of vanilla JS and OCaml (using js_of_ocaml).

SEEKING WORK | Remote | Systems Engineer

Hi, I’m Jordan. I’m a systems engineer, which means that in addition to writing my own code, I solve problems that involve making lots of other peoples’ code all work together. I can help you build your backend, set up your CI, package and publish your software, or even build a custom Linux distribution for you.
