Preface: I hate LinkedIn Do we know that in fact LinkedIn is scraping? Could it be that the LinkedIn data science team is erroneously matching company names with job titles that are added to its website? E.g., someone from YMCombinator posts a page to LinkedIn and puts the application link to angel.co. Then LinkedIn mistakenly sees YMCombinator as YCombinator and adds the logo (no scraping involved).
LinkedIn may or may not be scraping. Just remember that scraping is a pejorative word for what Google does, also known as "indexing".

#132Platforms will do what they want to do pushing the limits until they got class action or compliance penalty awakening. They'll pay fine then rinse and repeat.
Regardless, use them for what they good at.
DO NOT rely your business models or your income solely on them.
They see you, everyone and everything as a chance to use and abuse to squeeze maximum profits and discard.
Use them alike.

But if you aren't technical, LinkedIn is still the best place to engage. I sell media advertising and LinkedIn is by far the best social media platform. It's also the best social media platform for our media organization because we are looking for B2B audience. The real solution is building a B2B social media network. But that is very very hard to do.
To engage in what way and with who?

#137A few years ago, I worked at a tech company that shared a name with a restaurant a few towns over. The company's LinkedIn (with our logo, connections, etc...) would show job openings for cooks and waiters. I found it funny, at the time, and even went to the restaurant to try it out.
"Sounds great, when can you start?"

#138A bit of tangent, but it reminds me of a funny story: I discovered one day that I am getting recommended "Long distance truck driver" jobs through email and some of the re-targeted ads. First, I ignored them, but in a week or two, it became apparent that it was not just a coincidence. After some research, I realized that I had listed "Device Driver" programming as a skill on my LinkedIn and personal website. I suspec…

#140I've been thinking it's time to start moving away from that damn site. - If I actually want to start conversations, I get a lot more comments on HN or Reddit - When I was a job searcher, the idea of just being able to apply from my profile was really cool. Except every job just re-directed you to some form that wanted you to upload a resume anyway. - Of the handful of potential clients who have found me there, none h…
You haven’t seen LinkedIn cringe until you’ve worked in sales or sales adjacent positions. The amount of of hubris some of these people have is incredible
I don't consider myself to be particularly cynical, which is why it surprises me that I cannot shake off the loss of respect I feel for people I once respected after I see one of their linkedin posts on the odd day in the odd month that I do log in.
